A handsome collection of the sparkling comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the great 18th-century playwright behind The Rivals and The School for Scandal. Sheridan fills his stage with duels, mistaken identities, romantic intrigues, gossip, vanity, and characters whose polished manners barely conceal their ridiculous behavior. This 1908 J. M. Dent edition is especially beautiful, with an elaborate Arts-and-Crafts-style illustrated title spread and an olive cloth binding richly decorated in gilt along the spine. A striking Edwardian literary volume with exceptional shelf presence.
