Inspired by some of the great Buytenders™ on Whatnot, @grandpasgoodies, @maryellen1983, @cmac25, We have decided to give live thrifting and live flea shopping a try! We also hope to continue the great community building we have witnessed from hosts@keeponbricking, @jenjenjig and so many others who are using this platform to bring people together and raise awareness to support great causes.Our first show will be Friday, June 12th. we feel ready, but this is all new. At the time of writing this, June 12, 2026, we have exactly 0 followers, there is plenty we dont know and I am sure there will be some bumps along the way. We just ask for a little grace as we get our bearings, fumble through auctions learn the platform and gain confidence.In short order, I am sure we will be running traditional whatnot shows as well. "Live at the flea market" type shows are what inspired me to take the first step, so I want to explore that fully.Thanks for joining us on this journey!----A few notes on Live Thrifting from multiple vendors per show, be it the flea market, thrift store hopping or running a yard sale route.-Live hunts and direct from vendor shows bring a slightly different structure than standard whatnot shows where the host owns all of the items.-All sales are ultimately governed by the items and the verbal offer provided at the time of sale. If none of the following terms are addressed during the livestream, these are our standing house rules.-Hosts have their own rules, so you should ALWAYS check the show notes. Some version of the following has become standard practice for Live Thrifting shows-We will always audibly announce the VENDOR PRICE, the starting bids are defined as follows-Items will be offered at a starting bid of DOUBLE the vendor price, with a minimum starting bid of $4.This means:An item with a vendor price of $1 will start running at $4An item with a vendor price of $2 will start running at $4An item with a vendor price of $3 will start running at $6An item with a vendor price of $4 will start running at $8And so on.At our discretion we may run higher ticket items at less than double the vendor price, but you have to keep in mind, we will be taxed on the full sales price as whatnot will send a 1099 for total revenue at the end of the year.-This structure ensures we can pay for the taxman, packing and shipping supplies, and not least of all the time, effort and overhead it takes to bring the hunt directly to you, wherever you are.-You WILL BE CHARGED the shipping price shown to you during the auction. Please be aware of the shipping charges and bid accordingly. We will bundle shipping charges where possible, whatnot handles this automatically. We have taken considerable time and effort to set the shipping profiles in such a way to provide Whatnot Smart Shipping Bundler the information needed to efficiently combine shipments.-The Smart Shipping Bundler system is very good, but it is not perfect. There will be times where your items don't fit properly in the number of boxes what not has designated, resulting in additional shipping charges to the host.On the other hand you may have instances where Whatnot Smart Bundling results in a sub-optimal shipping experience for the buyer. As sellers, we will always do our best to make reasonable concessions to you if the bundling function doesnt deliver an expected result.
