My daughter asked me to bid on a Rhode lip gloss starting at £3, so I placed a bid expecting others to continue bidding. Nobody else did, so I won for £3.
Unfortunately, the seller seemed unhappy with the final price and repeatedly commented throughout the live that Rhode going for £3 was “a joke.” She suggested people should bid against themselves and implied “good people” would do so. This made both me and my daughter feel uncomfortable, as we simply participated fairly at the starting price set.
I was actually planning to tip extra, as I’d normally expect a genuine Rhode product to sell for more, but the seller’s reaction changed my mind. If I’m honest, I question the authenticity of the lip gloss, so I’m glad I didn’t pay more.
