Platoon is a 1986 war film written and directed by Oliver Stone that follows a young, naive recruit, Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen), during his first tour in Vietnam. The film is a semi-autobiographical account of Stone's own experiences and focuses on the loss of innocence and the moral conflict among soldiers, particularly between two sergeants with opposing viewpoints: the noble Sergeant Elias (Willem Dafoe) and the ruthless Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger).
