Product Details

This is a rarely graded silver denarius (AR Denarius) of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (ruled AD 193–211), struck during his reign at the Rome mint. Obverse: Laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right, with legend likely reading L SEP SEV PERT AVG IMP VIII (or a similar variant from his early issues around AD 194–195). Reverse: Victory advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond in her left (a common type symbolizing military victory, referenced as RIC IV 123 or similar). Grade: Choice Extremely Fine (Ch XF) by NGC Ancients, with certification number 2031558-128. This indicates strong strike quality and minimal wear, with attractive toning visible in the slab.
