Product Details

An authentic late Victorian Aesthetic Movement brooch dating from the 1880s–1900s, crafted in sculptural gilt brass with flowing organic curves. The swirling, asymmetrical form is characteristic of the transitional period leading into Art Nouveau — expressive, hand-worked, and inspired by natural movement. At the center sits a domed early faux pearl (glass with thick pearlized coating), original to the piece. The pearl’s soft luminosity contrasts beautifully with the warm matte gold wash of the metal. The back features its original open C-clasp, the defining closure used on Victorian pins before safety catches became the norm in the early 20th century. This piece has all the hallmarks collectors look for in genuine Victorian costume jewelry: hand-soldered construction, a warm antique patina, pre-1900 hardware, and a design vocabulary rooted in the Aesthetic style. An elegant and wearable artifact of the late 19th century. MEASUREMENTS • Width: ~2.75 in • Height: ~1.5 in
