Product Details

This is a bronze medal commemorating the Centenary of the Battle of Pichincha (1822-1922). The medal was designed by the artist Luigi Casadio (L. Casadio). The obverse (front) depicts General Antonio José de Sucre on horseback, holding a raised sword. The date "1922" is visible in the exergue (the space below the main image). The Battle of Pichincha secured the independence of the provinces that would eventually form the Republic of Ecuador.
