This is a comic book from Marvel Comics’ series The ’Nam (1986–1993), a realistic war comic depicting the Vietnam War from the perspective of U.S. soldiers on the ground. The series was written primarily by Vietnam veteran Doug Murray, initially illustrated by Michael Golden, and edited by Larry Hama (also a veteran). It stood out for its “real-time” structure—each issue advanced the story by about one month, mirroring events roughly 20 years earlier—and its focus on the gritty, everyday experiences of troops rather than superheroics or heavy glorification. It avoided superheroes for most of its run (though there were a few later crossovers, like with the Punisher).
