Lovely hand-carved, Mexican folk art sculpture c. 1970-80. Likely from Puebla, Guerrero or Tecali de Herrera, Mexico. This gorgeous Warrior Figure is sculpted from a solid black onyx base and adorned with tumbled tiger eye, and green onyx (possible aventurine). Additional headdress and decorative details are hand painted on resin. The cat eye eyes are absolutely mesmerizing and glow regardless lighting **This is an artisan folk art piece and not a mass produced item** As typical for Mexican folk artists of this time period, the back of the black onyx slab was left smooth and polished, with only the front being embellished.
