Product Details

These are vintage King's Crown ruby-flashed thumbprint sherbet or dessert glasses, likely manufactured by the Indiana Glass Company or Tiffin-Franciscan. The pattern, originally called "Excelsior" in the late 1800s, is known for its distinctive oval impressions, or "thumbprints," around the lower part of the bowl. The vibrant ruby color is a "flashed-on" stain applied to the surface of the clear glass, which can fade if not hand-washed. These glasses were produced in various forms and colors from the mid-20th century onwards, with the ruby flash being a popular variant. They are a popular item for collectors of mid-century American pressed glass.
