Product Details

These are authentic fossil shark teeth from the Eocene (~54 Million Years) aged phosphate deposits near Khouribga, Morocco. They are almost all of the species Otodus obliquus, a type of giant mackerel shark. Nearly all of these teeth range from 1" to 2" long though some maybe slightly larger and some slightly smaller. Many of these teeth will have small defects like a missing cusp, worn tip, or repair through the root. For higher quality and large fossil shark teeth, see our individual fossil listings. The photos are representative of the teeth you will receive but the exact ones are not pictured. Otodus is an extinct mackerel (Lamniformes) shark that lived during the Eocene, approximately 54 million years ago. This is the same family of sharks that includes the Great White and the largest shark ever known, the Megalodon. These teeth are collected during phosphate mining operations near Khouribga, Morocco. While Otodus teeth are common fossils at these mines, large, good quality specimens are hard to find since they are often destroyed by the mining equipment.
