Product Details
Silver Shield was what the industry calls a "loan-out" corporation. It was used to "loan out" Don Ho's services for specific television specials and residency contracts. This allowed him to manage his earnings and expenses separately from his personal income for tax and liability purposes. Donald Tai Loy Ho (1930–2007) was the definitive face of Hawaiian entertainment for over four decades. Known globally as Don Ho, he became a cultural ambassador who blended a relaxed, "shaka" lifestyle with a savvy understanding of show business. In 1966, he released his most famous hit, "Tiny Bubbles." Though he often joked that he "hated" the song because he had to sing it every night, it became an international anthem for Hawaii. Silver Shield was the vehicle for Ho’s television appearances and major touring engagements on the mainland. (Source: Gemini)
