Product Details

Ammolite is one of the rarest organic gemstones on Earth, formed from the fossilized shells of Late Cretaceous ammonites preserved in the Bearpaw Formation of southern Alberta, Canada. The gemstone displays brilliant iridescent colors created by preserved aragonite layers in the ammonite shell that refract light like opal. Ammolite is literally a 70-million year-old ammonite shell turned gemstone. It is one of the only fossils on Earth that can rival opal in color.
