Product Details

These bottles were typically referred to as "bridge style" due to its unique curved shape. It was made to have a cork or decanter style stopper, which has long since disappeard through the ages. Historically these bottles were used by chemists or apothocaries as "master bottles" that were used to fill smaller bottles from. These size and weight bottles were also meant to be used as inkwells in the Victorian age. This is made of thick cobalt blue glass, and weighs in at almost 2 lbs by itself! It measures just over 2 inches wide at the base. It does have a seam that runs up the side indicating that it was machine made but on the bottom there are indications of being hand blown so selling it as both since I can't determine which is correct.. This hand blown spot may be a defect or a repair. It is unknown or unclear. There are what appear to be crack lines on the side but they are not cracks. Just calling them to your attention, other than these few scratch lines, there are no chips or full blown cracks in this beauty.
