Vintage brass mailbox door from a commercial apartment or office building mailbox system, manufactured by American Device Mfg. and stamped 1970 on the back. These doors were originally part of large wall-mounted mailbox banks found in residential buildings and office mailrooms. This piece features a decorative Greek-key border, original number, and a glass viewing window so tenants could quickly see if mail had arrived without unlocking the door. Though produced in 1970, the design echoes the Art Deco architectural style commonly used in earlier mailbox systems. Heavy brass construction and classic architectural detailing make this a fantastic piece of industrial decor or architectural salvage.
