Product Details

This exquisite collector's piece features an intricate landscape scene handcrafted using the traditional nunome-zogan (cloth-weave inlay) technique. The scene depicts iconic Japanese motifs, including Mount Fuji, a multi-tiered pagoda, a traditional bridge, and a sailing vessel, all meticulously inlaid with 24k gold and silver threads on a burnished black iron background. The reverse and interior feature additional motifs of birds in flight highlighting the comprehensive artistry of the Komai style. Originally designed to hold cigarettes, its elegant form and historical significance make it a versatile luxury accessory, suitable for use as a business card holder or a standout display piece. Period: Late Meiji to early Showa era (approx. 1900–1940). Material: Iron with 24k gold and silver inlays. Technique: Authentic Japanese Damascene (Kyo-Zogan).
