Metal French bottle dryers, commonly known as hérissons (hedgehogs), were predominantly used from the early 19th century through the mid-20th century (1950s/1960s) for drying, storing, and organizing wine, cider, and food bottles in vineyards, dairies, and rural households. This particular rack is very heavy 6lbs and sturdy at 25" tall by 10.5" at it's widest point. Details: Rust is underneath every rivet & some peeled paint on 5 of the round knobs & 3 small spots of yellow paint on the bottom of the bottom rung - Please inspect all photos carefully. It still has it's original gray color. This would look amazing painted a nice color and used as a mug rack in a cafe or personal kitchen. Farmhouse & Industrial Decor Lovers will love this piece!
