Circa 1942 Vintage Weston Ball-O-Flint Tube Lighter "V" For Victory in Very Good Vintage Pre-owned Used Condition.A true art deco design unlike any other lighter. There were several styles of the 'Ball-O' lighters, such as this 'Ball-O-Flint'. The ball at the top of the lighter may be removed to open an area enclosed with a cork where extra flints can be stored. Unlike most of these tiny tube lighters with a wick for the flame, these have a "pocket" and the sparks fall into the pocket to ignite it. This pocket is the same as is used on catalytic lighters such as the New Method and Ray-O-Lite. Alcohol (methanol) was probably the intended fuel for these lighters rather than 'petrol' lighter fluid. Weston describes it as "Made with a special wick to create a torchlike arch of flame... ". Circa early through mid-1940s. Has the 'V' on the bottom: 'V' for Victory in WWII. Not firing. Needs a flint and fuel and possibly other work to function.
