Every year I bond with a rescue, a dog that has seen too much and needs so much care and love. This year I named our rescue Journey since he is now on his journey to his forever home. It may not be an easy journey but he will make it. Journey was rescued from the butchers. He saw everything that was happening to the other dogs being pulled from his cage. He heard their cries and screams as they were brutally tortured and killed. Paws of China saved every single dog from that horrible monster. Three of the dogs are traumatized by what they saw. Journey took it the hardest. Looking into his eyes I knew he would find forgiveness and trust again. Right after being rescued, he cornered himself and was too fearful to be touched. The rescues slept with him, giving him space letting him know they were there for him at his own pace. He is slowly trusting humans again, enough to have been picked up for a bath. He is still cornering himself in the kennels but day by day he is getting stronger.
