12mo. xxxiv, 405 pp. Original calf, worn with minor loss at lower spine extremity; boards rubbed corners worn. Text generally clean and sound. One page has what looks like an ink stain but still readable. A corrected edition of this widely used anthology by William Enfield, intended for the improvement of youth in reading and elocution, and long a standard educational tex in Britain and America. Provenance: Engraved armorial bookplate of "Vice Comtis de Cussy: (Viscount de Cussy) with unicorn supporters and motto "Faites Bien", later manuscript ownership inscription: "Barbara Clara Middleton, July 18th 1822."
