These gorgeous boots date from around the turn of the century, c. 1890s-early 1900s. Black leather with diamond toe stitching and scalloped top edge. These tall lace up boots were likely sold as cycling boots, and I have included some ads from the era (1897 and 1898) showing very similar styles advertised for this purpose. Cycling became a popular sport for women in the 1890s, causing a surge in cycling related fashion, including specialized cycling outfits, skirts and bloomers, boots, and even corsets designed for this new sport.
