Retails for $60 - $80 The Peace coin was created to celebrate the restoration of peace following World War I. It replaced the Morgan Dollar and was the result of a design competition won by Anthony de Francisci. De Francisci used his wife, Teresa, as the model for Lady Liberty. Unlike previous coins that focused on military might, the Peace Dollar emphasizes serenity, featuring an eagle at rest clutching an olive branch rather than arrows. The Classic Series 1921–1935. During its original run, these coins were struck in 90% silver. There are several key dates that collectors hunt for: 1921 The High Relief: The first year of issue was struck in "high relief," the design is more 3D and detailed. However, it was hard to stack and broke the Mint's dies, so the relief was lowered in 1922. A 1921 Peace Dollar in good condition is highly valuable. 1928-P: This is the King of the Peace Dollars. Only 360,649 were minted in Philadelphia, making it the rarest regular issue coin in the series. 1934-S: Known as a semi-key date, it is notoriously difficult to find in high-grade uncirculated condition.
