Ancient Greco rebel kingdom of Characene 140-120 B.C.E Located on the Persian Gulf extending from Kuwait to Bahrain. Obverse: diademed bust of the king Reverse: Hercules seated holding a club. Issue by the rebelling king Hyspaosines, who was the Seleucid governor of the area and was tasked to build a port city to help facilitate trade with India, he built the city Charux-Spasinu (meaning "walls of Hyspaosines') but rebelled and declared independence. RARE. Silver tetradrachm of 11.4 grams. 29 mm VG condition with some crystallization
