At just 9 months old, my son was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare condition with many different forms. Right now, we are in the process of determining which type he has. Based on recent readings, it may be transient infantile leukodystrophy, which means there is a strong possibility he could grow out of it in early adulthood. Still, there are many unknowns, which is why he undergoes yearly MRIs to monitor any changes.We are incredibly grateful that we were able to catch this early, as many families are not given that chance. This journey has opened our hearts to how rare and complex this disease truly is, and how important support and research are. Our family will be donating your purchase to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to support research and other families walking a similar path.
