John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) 6th President. 8” x 9 ¾” letter signed, Department of State, Patent Office, November 16, 1824, a letter from William P. Elliot to W. David Treadwell regarding copies of machine specifications, free franked. Adams served as Secretary of State during Monroe's eight-year presidency, from 1817 to 1825. There are places where the folds are worn through, but the signature of "J. Q. Adams" is clear. There is an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity
