Standing a commanding 29 inches tall, this vintage chinoiserie table lamp is a study in old-world glamour - a classic baluster-form ceramic base lacquered in deep, glassy black and enveloped in an allover pattern of gilded scrollwork and stylized blooms. The soft curling vines and chrysanthemum-like florals wind across the body in warm antique gold, creating the kind of layered, jewel-box richness that defines the very best of chinoiserie design. The shade is equally considered: a bell-form Dupioni silk in warm champagne, its natural slubbed texture catching the light beautifully. It is finished with a double-row gold gimp trim at both the upper and the lower edge. The lamp and shade are in very good vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or tears noted.
