Product Details

Direct sow Dwarf Dahlia seeds in spring after the last frost. The soil should be at least 60F. Lightly cover with soil and water regularly. To start seeds indoors, plant seeds in grow flats in early spring. Provide suitable light and keep the soil moist. Plant stong seedlings outdoors after last frost. Growing: This plant loves full sun and well drained, moist soil. Dwarf Dahlia functions as a perennial in Zones 8-10, but if planted in an area with cold winters, bring the plants indoors until spring. The stems of the dahlias will grow 10-16 inches tall. Expect blooming from midsummer-fall. Deadhead faded blooms to extend the flower show. Dwarf Dahlia is also deer resistant. Harvesting: For fresh flowers, cut the stems near the ground and place them in water immediately; strip the leaves that will fall below the water. Seed Saving: After the flowers fade, collect the seeds from the seed heads. Store the seeds in a cool, dry place.
