A genuinely antique pink/red transferware oval serving bowl, English, from Edge Malkin & Co of Burslem - the firm whose standing-greyhound trademark appears on the base, dating the piece to roughly the 1870s to 1900. The center carries a romantic pastoral scene - a turreted tower and a cross-topped monument, travelers leading a donkey across a bridge, mountains beyond - all wrapped in a lush scrolling grapevine-and-floral border. The soft red on cream is pure Victorian-romantic transferware.
