Ancient Roman Empire antoninianus struck during the reign of Claudius II Gothicus, one of Rome’s major military emperors during the Crisis of the Third Century. The obverse features the emperor wearing a radiate crown facing right with partial legends visible. Reverse shows two standing figures facing each other with star above, a classic symbolic Roman military/political design from the late empire period. This example retains attractive silvering and stronger reverse detail than many surviving Claudius II pieces.    •   Emperor: Claudius II Gothicus    •   Date: 268–270 AD    •   Denomination: Antoninianus    •   Weight: 2.85 grams    •   Obverse: Radiate bust right    •   Reverse: Two standing figures facing beneath star    •   Authentic Ancient Roman coin    •   Late Roman Crisis Period issue
