Original 1984 letterpress concert poster for a James Brown and Chuck Berry double bill at the Beverly Theatre in Los Angeles. Printed by the legendary Colby Poster Printing Co. — the LA shop whose fluorescent day-glo street posters defined Southern California's visual identity from 1948 until the company closed in 2012. The Beverly Theatre, on Wilshire Boulevard, was the site of James Brown's celebrated August 1983 concert where he called Michael Jackson and Prince onstage. The venue was demolished in 1988. Deep blue letterpress on bright fluorescent orange cardstock. Hand-set wood type, all caps. Colby imprint at the lower margin. Approximately 14 × 22 inches. Good condition — small staple holes and minor edge wear from original venue posting, light handling creases. Colors bright and unfaded, text fully legible throughout. Not a reproduction.
