Notes: Gordian III was Roman emperor from 238 to 244. At the age of 13, he became the youngest sole emperor of the Roman Empire. He was adopted as Caesar by the Joint Emperors Pupienus & Balbinus and, upon their assassinations, ascended to the throne. Gordian III died while battling the Sassanids; however, it is not known whether he died in battle or was killed by his successor Philip the Arab.
