Product Details
Pre-Columbian Chimú woven textile fragment, North Coast Peru, ca. 1000–1470 CE. Finely woven in natural tan and reddish-brown fibers, featuring repeating serpent motifs arranged in horizontal bands. Serpents held important symbolic significance in ancient Andean cosmology, often associated with water, fertility, and the underworld. Despite age-related losses, the textile retains strong decorative detail and excellent visual appeal. Professionally mounted and framed for display. Provenance: Ex David Wooderson Collection, California.
