Up for sale is an incredibly preserved piece of post-Civil War Reconstruction history: an 1872 $10 State of South Carolina Revenue Bond Scrip obsolete banknote. This historical note is fully authenticated and graded by PMG as Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. The "Exceptional Paper Quality" designation confirms that the paper is entirely original, retaining its crisp, natural texture and vibrant ink without any artificial treatment or restorations. Issued during the Reconstruction Era under the Act of March 2, 1872, these notes were printed by the American Bank Note Company to relieve the state’s financial liabilities related to the Blue Ridge Railroad Company. As seen in 1, the face of the note features an ornate "TEN" layout with a top-center vignette depicting an early steam locomotive train crossing a bridge. The reverse side, shown in image 2 features the crisp typography outlining the state's legislative act alongside the prominent dual denomination seals. The centering is excellent, the paper remains perfectly creamy and bright, and the green undertones on the back are exceptionally vivid. A foundational piece for collectors of Southern obsolete currency, railroad ephemera, or high-grade PMG certified paper money. Condition Note: Graded PMG 64 EPQ.
