Product Details

Series of 1899 $1 United States Silver Certificate, popularly known among collectors as the "Black Eagle" note (often nicknamed a "horse blanket" because it is roughly 25% larger than contemporary notes and features a large, dark-inked bald eagle perched with outstretched wings holding an American flag. This is the only issue of U.S. paper money to display portraits of two different presidents on its face—Abraham Lincoln on the lower left and Ulysses S. Grant on the lower right. This particular note features the printed signatures of Houston B. Teehee (Register of the Treasury) and John Burke (Treasurer of the United States) on the left and right sides which designates it as a Friedberg #233 variety. There are no stains, no tears, no pin holes (302.210.2)
