This flag can be dated to an older style based on his craftsmanship, however, I’m doing a good amount of research, I’ve realized it is extremely difficult to date flags. The stars are fully machine embroidered, which started in the late 19th century/ early 20th century. Due to its color fading and texture, it also seems to be a heavyweight cotton. Also typical in the older flags for durability. There is some fraying from age and use as well as rust stains from being stored against the hooks. There is also a slight musty odor that has been treated but could use further treatment. Very unique and rare find It’s is a Betsy Ross reproduction, but o still believe this to be an antique or almost antique version.
