Struck in 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver by the respected Sunshine Mint. NORFED's Liberty Dollar program was shut down following a federal raid in November 2007 and a 2011 conviction of founder Bernard Von NotHaus — meaning no new pieces will ever be produced. What exists is what exists. California was among the higher-mintage state issues in the SMI series, making it more attainable than many counterparts — but genuine examples are increasingly scarce as they enter permanent collections.
