This banana was grown from pup to current size by ZHomestead. Genes have been breed to favor a higher red variation to the center leaf, while maintaining a vibrant green on the outer edge of the leaves. Tree does not typically grow over 8ft tall making this a great species for indoor/outdoor potted production of banana fruits. Bananas usually fruit in their third year, and must stay awake between their second and third spring without being dug up or dying back to the ground. First year banana plants will typically get about a foot tall before fall, then die back to the ground. In the second spring they wake back up and make pups. If the pups are removed, and the mother plant potted in a 5-7 gallon pot of cactus soil, then the tree will typically flower the third spring and have fruits ready in the fall. Bananas can handle heavy trimming of leaves while inside for the winter (zones 4-7), but do require full sun in the spring to flower.
