There's a little bird singing on this box — and I mean that literally. Lift the lid and she plays, a sweet delicate melody that suits her perfectly. The lid panel stops you — the branches, blossoms, and bird are carved in relief, every detail worked by hand. You can feel the rings in the bark, the individual flower petals, the feathers on the little bird. His eye is recessed. What appears to be gold foil catches the light on the flowers. This is genuine artisan work, not a printed image. She's 11" x 8¼" x 4", black lacquer exterior with gold trim, rich red velvet interior with ring rolls, open compartments, and a lid mirror. There is surface wear on the lacquer in a few spots but no wood showing through...not bad for a girl her age. The upper tray has some ink marks that are set in — noted and priced accordingly.
