Dorstenia Foetida Variegated is a highly sought-after, caudex-forming succulent native to East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Flowers: Star-shaped or circular, shield-like receptacles (hypanthodiums) that forcefully eject mature seeds. Light: Bright, indirect light to partial shade. High light intensity deepens the caudex color but can bleach out or burn the delicate variegated leaves. Watering: Unlike typical desert succulents, they need regular moisture. Water generously during the growing season (spring–fall) but allow the top layer of soil to dry out. Drastically reduce watering in the winter, keeping the soil almost dry to prevent root rot. Soil & Fertilizer: Use a highly porous, gritty mix. Feed with a half-strength, balanced fertilizer once during the active growing season.
