Beautiful Authentic Victorian-era Sepia family photo portrait-Authentic 22 Gold leaf water-gilded Ornate Gesso, Rocco Revival pre 1900. This frame features raised scrollwork. Includes original backing board, hand twisted wire and the original Sepia toned family cabinet card photo inside and its original textured studio mat. There are two chips on the corner one top left corner the other bottom right side as shown in Pictures. There is also one small piece on left side just below the top corner chip with a small piece missing. This is typical for a piece of this era. The rest of the Gesso is tight and secure bonded to the wood base. crazing (alligatoring) lines are visible through out the frame due to natural age and climate shifts over 120 + years.The frame feels remarkably strudy and intact. the lower left corner shows typical age -related separation from dried hide glue but remains structurally sound. Dimensions 14"×16" outside frame measurements.
