Gorgeous grape leaves/vines and grapes design on both sides of this solid sterling silver match safe aka Vesta case. These are amazing antique pieces that were used to keep matches dry and safe over 100 years ago! The ridges on the bottom of the case on both sides are called the strike plate and it is in tact for use to light a wooden match. This case came to me with a moderate pinch in the lower left corner, visible in the image by the indent at the bottom corner/foot. This piece was clearly used and loved. The empty center plate was reserved for engraving initial and this piece has still never been personalized! The case measures about 2.3 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. It weighs 18 -18.5 grams.
