Beautiful gold-plated archaeological reproduction earrings purchased by me from a museum shop in Rome. This pair was created after an ancient Roman earring design found through archaeological excavation. The articulated design features hammered triangular plaques, small purple beads, and dangling lozenge-shaped pendants that move as they are worn. Jewelry of this kind would have been associated with an affluent, fashionable Roman woman—worn with carefully arranged hair, fine draped clothing, and other signs of status. The gold, coloured beads, and movement were designed to catch the light and draw attention. A distinctive piece of wearable Roman history with a genuine Rome museum-shop provenance.
