Product Details

A lovely antique porcelain individual butter pat bearing the highly collectible Bassett Limoges Austria backstamp. The face of the dish features a beautiful, delicate purple floral transfer design reminiscent of sweet violets or wild asters, offset elegantly by a gently ruffled and scalloped rim.The base bears the authentic, crisp red circular factory stamp which dates the item precisely to the 1892–1914 era. This dish has a fascinating history. "Limoges" usually refers to fine china made in France, George Bassett (a prominent New York importer) used the name "Bassett Limoges" as a proprietary brand name for the high-quality porcelain he imported from the Altrohlau Porcelain Factory in Bohemia, Austria.
