Pictured is an original hand-drawn literary illustration depicting American author Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804–1864). The artwork is rendered in India ink on cellophane and mounted between glass panels, measuring approximately 4" x 3 1/4". The slide contains biographical illustrations and references associated with Hawthorne's life and literary career, including scenes relating to Salem, Massachusetts and other notable events. The piece appears to have been created as part of a larger educational series featuring important literary figures.
