Greece. AR Tetradrachm (22x18mm, 16.83g, 7h). Mint: Athens. Obv: Helmeted head of Athena right, with profile eye and pi-style palmette Rev: Owl standing right, head facing; olive spray and crescent to left Ref: Bingen Pi Phase uncertain; Kroll –; HGC 4, 1599 aVF. Irregular flan. Athens issued these iconic "owl" tetradrachms as a trusted trade currency across the ancient Mediterranean. The pi-style palmette on Athena's helmet crest marks this as a later "New Style" transitional issue, struck during the period when Athens was reasserting economic influence following Macedonian dominance under Philip II and Alexander the Great.
