Centered, Dark toning Trajan earned the title 'Optimus Princeps' - Best of Princes - by popular demand and Senate decree, a distinction never formally granted to any emperor before or after him. His reign saw Rome reach its greatest territorial extent, with Dacia and Mesopotamia added to the empire. The reverse imagery reflects a military state at the height of its confidence.
