Product Details

Authentic antique lithograph from John James Audubon’s celebrated The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, depicting the Townsend’s Shrew Mole in its natural habitat. Drawn from nature by J.W. Audubon and printed and hand-colored by the renowned Philadelphia lithographer J.T. Bowen. These most likely date to circa 1849–1854. These beautifully detailed natural history illustrations helped establish Audubon as one of America’s most influential wildlife artists and remain highly collectible today. Currently in a later black wood frame with neutral matting behind glass. Overall framed size: 15.25” x 12” Condition: Age-related toning, scattered foxing, dust and light discoloration consistent with a 19th-century print. Later black wood frame shows cosmetic wear and scuffs from age and use.
