***chip in black base-see pics Offered is a beautiful late Victorian miniature oil lamp dating to approximately 1880–1900. The lamp features a striking black cherry glass body that appears nearly black until illuminated, when it reveals deep burgundy-red tones. The front and back are decorated with beautiful portrait medallions, protected beneath a clear glass layer, giving the decoration exceptional depth and brilliance. The combination of rich dark glass and finely detailed portrait decoration makes this an especially elegant Victorian display piece. The lamp retains its antique brass collar and has an approximately 1¼-inch burner opening, a common size for miniature and parlor oil lamps of the period. It is being offered without a burner, chimney, or shade.
