The 1903 Zs Z 20 Centavos is a vintage Mexican silver coin minted in Zacatecas with a limited mintage of 143,000 pieces.The low mintage of 143,000 pieces for the 1903 Zs Z 20 Centavos was driven by Mexico’s imminent transition to the Gold Standard, a severe global decline in the value of silver, and the forced centralisation of the country’s minting system.By 1903, the historic Zacatecas Mint (represented by the "Zs" mint mark) was in its final years of operation. As part of President Porfirio Díaz’s economic reforms, the government systematically reduced production at provincial branch mints to prepare for their permanent closure. The Zacatecas facility officially shut its doors just two years later, in 1905, making the 1903 production a minor, wrap-up run.
