This is a Japanese tansu chest of drawers with characteristic iron hardware pulls.These chests, known as kodansu (small chests) or tansu, were traditionally used for storage.They often feature elaborate iron ornamental fittings, such as the handles and keyplates seen here.Authentic pieces can date back to the Meiji period (1868-1912) and are often made of dark wood.
